The concept

A ramen-ya where you read

Iwao is an immersive ramen-ya first: five house-drawn ramen recipes, served piping hot facing the open kitchen. But the house takes the set all the way — shelves of manga, inked posters, figurines — so the meal lingers like a Tokyo café. You pull a volume, you nibble, and time slips away.

The atmosphere

Reading under the lanterns

The plate is only half the trip. You eat surrounded by posters and manga, you turn the pages under the red lanterns, you glance up at the recreated Tokyo alley. In Marseille, it's the spot you come to as much for the fanzine mood as for the ramen.

To experience

The manga library

Three ways to live Iwao like a manga page — to read, to play, to savour.

The selection

Shelves of volumes within reach: shōnen, seinen, classics. Grab what you like and read while the broth simmers.

The arcade cabinet

Linger over the evening, controller in hand: the retro arcade cabinet stands in the room, between two bowls and two chapters.

To nibble

Gyoza, karaage, taiyaki: things to pick at without letting go of your manga, between ramen and dessert.
